Review by: K&H Pet Products Heated Thermo Kitty Heated Mocha/Tan Cat Bed My cat loves it! A week with the bed and award 4.8 out of 5 stars. Since this is a very low power, they decided not to place the switch on the bed. For some, this can be an obstacle. I based this purchase on only two things. the number of positive reviews and the reviews that showed the most photos of happy cats. I'm glad I did! I can even buy a second one so the cat has two different places to sleep in the house. This is a 17 year old American Shorthair who has been hating the cold lately. ADVANTAGES: • LOW POWER. Although it runs consistently, it initially requires only 4 watts of power and then runs at 1 watt after warming up (measured with a "Kill A Watt" meter). • Very soft, with an extra padded middle section. • A good high wall that allows the cat to stay warm and enough fencing to give the cat a sense of security. • Since my cat used to sleep on a towel in the corner of my bed, the smaller bed (16ft) works great in the corner of the bed. Doesn't even slip. The soft, flexible wall allows me to pet my cat or otherwise make sure she's in bed at night. CONS: • not yet, after the first week. Note: Not as warm as an electric heating pad as it is low wattage and not designed for intense deep heat. TIPS: • I put an inexpensive, ultra-soft microfiber cloth (used for cleaning cars) between the cat bed and the cat bed as an extra layer. So I don't have to try to clean the main bed as often. • The heated bed complements the warmth of the cat's environment with a heating pad to keep the cat from overheating. As a test, I laid the book on my bed for 15 minutes. I picked up the book and it was much warmer where it lay. Not bad for a watt of power when it's warm! • I don't think it's intended for outdoor use as it's low powered. However, having an outdoor cat would be better than nothing. • The shipping packaging can temporarily dent the walls of the cat bed and then deform them. Give it a day or two to fix and get back to normal. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Attached is a photo of a happily sleeping cat.
