Review on 🎙️ Tascam DR-05X Portable Handheld Digital Recorder and USB Audio Interface, DR-05X by George Kapoor

At first glance, the recorder is well made. The sound quality appears to be excellent. I say "seems" because I'm having trouble getting it to interact with my PCs. I have 2 PCs with the latest version of Windows 10. Neither of them recognize the microphone. I followed the instructions in the email and nothing worked. An email to tech support eventually got a response telling me to call to discuss this. The tech support guy couldn't help but one thing he said put me on track to get it working on a third PC. This advice DO NOT install the driver specified in the instructions. Thinking this might be an issue, I tried connecting to my work computer which also has Windows 10 installed. Why not uninstall the driver? Easier said than done. The microphone is not specifically identified in Device Manager. It will appear as a USB device. I finally found it and removed the driver and device. My computers still couldn't identify the microphone. In my humble opinion, the instructions are inadequate. And the recorder menus don't give the impression that the setting has been changed. You move around, choose a shot and nothing seems to happen. Disappointing start to using the device. Your results may be better, but do not install the driver.
