Not what I expected.
I think most buyers of this item would prefer a very short haircut. It looked good. Unfortunately, not only did the plates get hot, the area of plastic or whatever surrounding the plates got hot as well. This does not apply to the large Chi iron I own which is now too big for the job. As the iron was very hot I couldn't use it around my ears without burning myself so I had to send it back. If my hair wasn't so short, I would probably be very happy about it.
