Whilst I was hoping the watch would come with everything you need to use it I was surprised we didn't even program it could until we bought a similar SIM card. However, once we bought a SIM card, setup was relatively easy. We decided to gift this watch to our 10 year old who regularly hangs out with his friends in the neighborhood and doesn't have a phone (or a way to contact us while it's gone). He loves the ease of use and we love that we can keep in touch with him and see where he is at all times. Xplora seems to give our child a good balance between screen time and activity as they like to keep track of how active they are throughout the day. I particularly like the feature that allows us to limit the use of certain features (messages, calls, and other distractions) during school hours. I also love the fact that while we have a sense of autonomy, we can still control what she uses the watch for (via the app I have on my phone). Another bonus feature (which we usually look for in wearables) is that the Xplora is waterproof, although we've yet to test that feature. Overall, our kid really likes his Xplora. As his parents, we keep learning what this watch is capable of and together we enjoy the fact that we can give our son a sense of independence while still being "connected".
