No connection to 2 laptops. Replaced and still no connection.

Tested on 2 known good USB ports on a Lenovo laptop and then on a Dell laptop. None will connect. Thought it was an accident and ordered a replacement. It didn't work either. I tried an Anker cable and it connected well. Disappointed at 40. I think the USB A connector was oddly attached as it was noticeably firmer than other brand cables.
