Easy to raise and lower. Looks longer than it is in the photo. So 2 gives the cat more space (unless you are dealing with a very small kitten). It seems to work as advertised. You have to make sure that the cat doesn't decide to "dig" in the trellis. Can break without much effort. In general, it works for a short time. I definitely want to go out and see them! And 1 just isn't enough for a larger cat to have some space to "roam". (My cat is used to walking on a leash and basically "guides" me where she wants to go and when, so it's more restrictive and doesn't encourage more "activity". My cat seems to get bored easily and wants to walk (me think he spoiled it!)
