I bought 2 of these for my office after 6 comcast damaged in 2 years. I wanted a backup in case one of them died. for a year and never opened the 2. I'm an avid internet user and can't afford to be disconnected so I have 2 cons: Voice over IP aka Telephone. Cable company telephone service is not supported. You need to buy Omma or Magic Jack etc for your home phone. It's cheaper than what the cable company charges. So if you buy Omma for $150 and get the same service as the cable company, you're spending about $15 a month instead of $34, so it pays for itself in a year. Then the cable company increases your tariff because you didn't connect. All in all, the costs are the same. find out. At least the cable company isn't coming here 3 or 4 times a year to swap out the modem right now and that's 4 to 6 days that the internet is NOT down every year. and you save a little EVERY YEAR
