These bulbs are EXCELLENT. I only wish I had bought more. They illuminate the rooms with light, the sun was in our room. My wife sews quilts and getting enough light so she can see when she is cutting and sewing has always been a challenge, but no more. She has all the light she wants or needs. They do get hot though and shouldn't be placed in a recessed fixture, but they work great in ceiling fans where there's no risk of the heat setting anything on fire. They are very small compared to a conventional lamp and are mounted in tight spaces where an incandescent or fluorescent lamp of comparable light output would never fit.
