This is not your ordinary automatic or mechanical pencil. To adjust the lead of a pencil, you need to loosen the tip, pull the magnetic ring from the end to the desired length, tighten the tip, and then release the ring. I've never seen a pen like this before. There were no instructions in the kit and I turned to the seller for help. (They have since been added to the list). It was very frustrating to receive a pencil without figuring out how to use it and waiting for the seller to reply (which came within 12 hours). Lead is thick and does not break easily. However, it doesn't register in Scantron's tests (that's why I bought it), so the lead doesn't count as number 2. It's good that a small sharpener is included to make the end of the lead firmer, but I don't I don't know when I will use it. My husband loves the pencil so I gave it to him. I don't know how well it cleans. No eraser included and I didn't have to erase anything.
