We have well water, had problems with fabric softener and salt water which kills good bacteria and the septic tank was filling up too quickly so we turned it off. Now we have a deep well, so the water is pretty good quality to start with. Not as hard as city water and chlorine-free. However, I have ultimately come to the conclusion that it is destroying my hair and badly affecting my skin. My hair was frizzy, brittle, and dry — and falling out far more often than before — and my skin was dry and itchy. For these reasons, softened water was much better, so I started looking for alternatives, found these, and figured that for the price I wouldn't fall far short if it didn't perform as advertised. Surprisingly, it really works! I use less shampoo and conditioner and my hair is easier to wash. It's not that fluffy even in high humidity. My skin used to be clammy and learned when I dried myself in a hot shower and unless I was using lotion the whole time it was so dry and itchy it was driving me crazy! I didn't need to use lotion after using this product and my skin felt softer and wrinkles were less noticeable. It's like a cosmetic procedure! I'll admit I'm a huge skeptic of anything that seems like a gimmick, and I'm usually a pessimist too, but I can tell the difference, so I'm totally satisfied with this article.
