I bought this shovel to get raked piles of acorns faster here in the Northeast (south of Maine). It definitely worked for this purpose, but I found it didn't slide into the stack the way I wanted when the leading edge was flush with the grass. You'll need to lift it high enough to place some acorns underneath that will act as 'wheels'. Once the pile is reduced to a few dozen acorns, you can leave the shovel in one spot (like the shovel) and use your free hand to push in the rest of the pile. I was surprised that the handle isn't very long, but I have big hands so it will probably fit most people. Happy creating!
