Update June 6, 2019: Cameras (and NVR) were installed after a few weeks. I really like her. The effective infrared range is about 40 feet. As such, the black and white image is fairly clear in the dark at about 40 feet from the camera - after which it falls off quickly. The LEDs are very bright when on. Enough to switch from night vision to color to black and white. I manually turn on the camera LEDs using the HomeSafe View app for my smartphone, tablet or computer. There is a way to automatically activate the LEDs when triggered (motion detection), but I haven't decided if I want to do that yet. The microphone on the camera is sensitive enough to hear normal conversation levels from about 20 feet away. (There is background noise on the smartphone). The camera speaker can be loud enough to be heard (without background noise) up to about 30 feet away. can't see very far (fisheye distortion in the distance isn't very useful) and typically require some sort of subscription to save video capture events to a cloud account. Yes, it costs more but is much more flexible. These cameras are connected to the NVR using a CAT6 cable. I had a long run and used a CAT6 adapter to add a second cable extension (30ft). Works perfectly. The images from the camera to the NVR and then to the various 4k and 1080 monitors (connected via wired and wireless HDMI) installed throughout the house are very clear. +++ I bought 2 of these security cameras along with 6 cameras from Swann Surveillance System https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J67KXKX Currently the NVR and all 8 cameras are on the floor, powered on and connected to the internet, and I can view live and recorded video. from computers, smartphones, tablets, etc. (after setting up a domain with Swann). Everything seems to work correctly, as does the HomeSafe View app on computers, tablets and smartphones. In addition to night vision infrared illuminators, this particular outdoor security camera has a pair of LEDs, a microphone and a speaker. The brightness of the LEDs is adjustable from the application on computers, smartphones, tablets, and the system menu on the DVR can make the LED stay on or blink when motion is detected. The microphone is also controlled via the app (press and hold the microphone icon to send your voice to this camera from computers, smartphones or tablets while this camera is a "live" viewer. The camera's microphone is at a distance of about 20ft reasonably sensitive I wanted to place this before installing to make sure everything works the way I need it to - and so far so good We recently moved house and I have an installed/working 720p Swann CCTV system in the house we moved into and left behind at the new location in the security camera system needed Now that I'm familiar with the behavior of the new system, including this camera, I'm ready to install the new system (along with a 1500-AVR battery backup system for the NVR and multiple monitors around the house, each with its own 700 AVR backup battery). eras supplied with the system works well under controlled indoor light/dark conditions.
