I often ship small items up to 75 pounds. I can get USPS shipping discount by paying postage online. To do this, you need an accurate scale. I bought this scale for this purpose. I am very happy with the scale. It is usually the same as the post office except for 1 ounce. I usually only add 1 or 2 ounces to the listed weight. The device stores readings when the package is too large to be shown on the display. You can take out the package and see what the weight was. Mine has never failed and I've been using it for over a year now. Should recalibration be necessary, simply pressing the zero button will reset your scale to zero. Handy little tray for small items.
