Review on 🚲 ROCKBROS MTB Pedals: Aluminum Flat Pedals for Mountain Bikes | Sealed Bearing, Lightweight Platform for Road, BMX, and MTB Bikes by Charles Mathews

The fit and finish are VERY good for the price. The pins need to be replaced.

Wanted some red tinge to update my bike's color scheme and decided to give it a try as I had used Rockbros composite pedals before and was happy with them. I appreciate the muted styling versus the "cosmic" over-styling that many aluminum pedal designs suffer from, no matter the price. That's subjective, of course, but I think Rockbros has outperformed most of its competitors thanks to its simplistic design. The pedals came in a plain box, looked very slick and the anodizing was the same throughout, matching most of the red accents which were pretty close on my bike already. What I didn't like was how grippy the lugs were. They used reverse torx/e-torx screws, but instead of threading them through the pedal so the threaded end is the point of contact with your shoe, they left a rounded e-torx head that acts like a bolt: these don't offer either enough grip to ensure a good grip on most soles. Don't get me wrong, the clutch is there, but it's nowhere as good as Rockbros' own composite pedals, or the Raceface Chesters pedals they "borrowed" from, or the Cranbrothers Die, etc. that all with a sharper thread partly use smaller diameter lugs that really dig into the rubber of your shoes. For normal riding this may be sufficient for most customers, but for more aggressive riding, tricks like hare jumps, endo, etc. when you need to "pull up" on a flat pedal, they are significantly more slippery than more traditional designs. . I decided to return them but they are the basis of a great pedal at an amazing price. do if you decide to upgrade your cleats - or alternatively two sets in a T in the box, one for those who want a more aggressive cleat and one as is. And maybe a torx wrench to remove the "blunt" set since most people don't have one.
