Fairly nice and convincing wood tone and texture. The only thing that gives it away I think is the rounded corners which make it more obvious that it's laminate/MDF. Overall, the device is relatively strong but lightweight thanks to its steel construction. My main complaint is the poor quality control. Threaded inserts welded into a square steel tube are often curved (see illustrations). This causes assembly difficulties as the parts are not aligned squarely and you have to try to place the parts in different places and rotate them through trial and error to see if they fit. I finally managed to put everything in place, but it was a lot more annoying than I expected. If you are having trouble I would suggest assembling the frame first and then the flat top as this will give you more wiggle room. At $45 I'd say it's average. Generally not bad, but there are caveats. Three stars.
