My cat used to attack the corner of the expensive doormat in our living room. He tore it so badly that instead of throwing away the very large rug, I turned it over so the affected area was under the sofa. Of course, he started attacking the new open corner. That's when I found this post. I placed a foot long piece along each side of the corner. He went for it and he definitely did NOT like the feel of the duct tape. He walked away and shook one front paw, then switched to the other paw and shook it. He hasn't touched it since then. I think I might try taking it off if we have company, but for now this tape solved my problem!
