Review on Nikon D850 FX Format Digital Camera by Bong Cha ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I expected mediocre quality, but the product was pleasantly surprised.

Some pros: one) Versatility. Suitable for almost any genre. filming. Thanks to focus speed, continuous shooting speed (especially with optional battery pack), buffer size and high image resolution (large format printing, margin for framing). 2) Comfortable grip and location of controls (up to all buttons and levers reach without removing your finger from the shutter button). When shooting quickly, this important aspect. Again, unlike the D750, the 850 has conveniently located reprogrammable Pv and Fn buttons on the front next to the mount (before them on D750 is very inconvenient to reach blindly, they are too far apart from each other friend). A nice little thing in terms of ergonomics backlight buttons and settings dial (sometimes it was very lacking on the D750 when shooting in the dark). 3) Large and bright viewfinder An important advantage of the D850 is the wide spread of focus points throughout the frame, in the 750 they are all clustered closer to the center. four) A very useful and long-awaited (not only by me) completely silent mode shooting (finally he got to the DSLRs)). All sorts of so-called "modes Silent Shooting” before that were just an imitation of one. 5) For lovers of manual lenses and those who simply shoot in manual mode focus also has a long-awaited gift in the form of peak focus (outline sharpness zones in the hover mode on the display) is a very handy thing, for a long time tested on system mirrorless cameras and only now with such a huge belatedly reached the mirrors. 6) Sufficiently fast general operation of the camera (navigation, quick viewing of images). Everything happens without visible delays, provided that high-speed memory cards are used (the minimum required for this is a SanDisk extreme pro SD card or another similar memory card with a WRITE speed of at least 90 MB/s) . Its cons: one) Dimensions (weight to a lesser extent, it is not so much more than similar new full-frame DSLRs, but the size is the largest in this class from modern models. In this regard, Nikon has switched places with its main brand competitor. Although you quickly get used to the size, after the 1st day of operation it no longer seems gigantic, and the comfortable deep grip of the handle compensates for this nuance. 2) I expected to see a big difference with the same D750 in terms of noise at high ISO values. In practice, I did not see this (I compared up to 6400 ISO values, at least with the D750). The only thing I can say again, in fairness, is that the noise structure quite fine-grained and not strong color degradation with increasing sensitivity to the indicated values is observed, unlike some other models. 3) A very strange and inconvenient algorithm for working in auto iso mode (I think this glitch eliminated with new firmware). four) Very slow focus mode in hover mode. How was this the mode for shooting stationary objects on the D750 remained on the D850, which is a pity the main competitor with this parameter in new SLR cameras, things are much better. 5) The relative disadvantages include the need to upgrade everything that you have with purchase of this camera, starting with the purchase of the highest speed memory cards, ending with new hardware (computer upgrade). 6) I was also somewhat disappointed with the low contrast of the image and some pallor of color reproduction, although I set the SD mode in the Picture control (I shot it in a jeep). 7) I was also not pleased with the picture from the 70-200 2,8 VR of the first version, which is my favorite lens in conjunction with the Nikon D750 (there are rarely photos from it need to be corrected. Everything turns out very bright, voluminous and beautiful. Here faded and sometimes not sharp enough or something. Although the back, there is no front focus (checked carefully). But apparently you need to upgrade and switch to newer optics (and more expensive) versions.
