These braces are great. I broke my ankle playing lacrosse in high school about 6 years ago and have had ankle problems ever since. I wore different bandages for about a year and did exercise for a while but never did the exercises at home (didn't know I would start to slow down a bit in my 20's lol). My ankle still hurts sometimes, it gives out easily and rolls a lot. My doctor said that ankle injuries almost never heal 100% and you can lose elasticity in the tendons in your ankle, causing them to permanently wobble. So I need help walking. I've tried more minimalistic braces but they usually don't provide adequate support. This bandage works so well for two reasons: 1. The laces (yes, annoying and not so nice, but that's the difference. They also ensure that the bandage is tight enough even if you order it too big). 2. Side straps (completely immobilize the ankle to keep it straight and at a 45 degree angle to heal). This bandage is exactly the same as the one my doctor gave me after I removed my cast, so it's practically medical. I took white because it looks better with my sneakers. I was afraid it would be rough but the packaging says the brace is machine washable. I wear women's shoes 6.5 (US) and ordered a small. Fits perfectly. The size chart on the box is slightly different from the one posted here, so I'm including a picture of it. Ideal overall for serious stability. Probably too tight for those looking for light to moderate support.
