Review on Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV 235/50 R18 101T Winter by Edyta Nowak ᠌

After 3 years on spikes, then 10 years on Velcro, I put myself this studded rubber. Since then I have been suffering. If earlier in winter I drove with comfort, like on summer tires, now at least plug your ears, the rumble of spikes breaks through regular and additional sound insulation. Especially at city speeds of 50-60-70 km / h, the rumble is not uniform, with a variable amplitude, it howls directly. And this is not surprising: not the quietest friction Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 has a noise level of 71 dB, while Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 has a noise level of 78 dB. For understanding, 7 dB is perceived by the human ear as a 7-fold (!) difference in noise level, which is even more than a quiet TAZ and a Mercedes S-class. Tires are moderately noisy only when driving on a snowy roll, driving on asphalt brings a characteristic crunch of spikes and an unbearable rumble. Who writes that the tires are very quiet - guys, what are you comparing with what ?! The grip advantage is only on ice. In other modes, there are no advantages of this studded rubber, only disadvantages: increased noise, flying spikes, worse grip on asphalt and in snow than friction tires of a similar price range from the same manufacturer. There are also complaints about handling, during drifting and skidding it can be difficult to control traction, it is easy to get a sharp breakdown of the coated wheels and lose controllability. But this is a well-known feature of Nokian tires, you just need to keep it in mind for aggressive driving. Moral: tires are suitable for measured, non-aggressive operation, and only for snowy regions, for suburban operation; I categorically do not recommend for Hong Kong and urban operation on asphalt.
