I was looking for an external gaming device to record 2160p (3840 x 2160) videos to my XBOX ONE X and my to use a 4K monitor. Continuing recording at 1080P would be fine as 4K recordings take up much more space. I used Elgato HD60 which worked fine but only skipped 1080P videos. Unfortunately, the new Elgato 4K60 Pro is an internal desktop card and unusable for my purposes. Avio and Magwell devices are expensive and simply unknown to me in terms of performance and reliability. in the year 2160r. This device was exactly what I wanted to do and was $200 at a very reasonable price so I bought it and have been using it for about a week. Pros: It definitely streams video at 2160p (60Hz) and XBOX ONE game output from my XBOX ONE X (like Destiny 2) looks great when zoomed in, and see enhanced XBOX ONE X games (like Halo 5 Guardians). gorgeous. Download. Setup is easy. The device is plug-and-play ready and the recording software is ready to use with the default settings. The .mp4 output of the .mp4 recording looks good. It also has a PC-less (microSD card) recording mode, although I haven't tried it. Cons: The user manual is a basic 4-page document with minimal setup and operation details. There are no troubleshooting tips or FAQs in the document. There is absolutely no documentation, troubleshooting help, or FAQs on the web. This became a problem for me because I was having trouble with the so-called headset and group chat features on the device. The idea behind these features is that a headphone jack (3.5mm pin) connects to the headset port connected to the LGP2 port. and a male 3.5mm cable that connects to the controller and the controller port on the device. Sounds simple but actually doesn't work as advertised: o You can't set this up with a controller plugged into a play and charge cable. The result is loud feedback. I learned this while looking through the FAQ for a previous device (1080P LGP). o Cannot set this up with an XBOX Elite Controller with a 3.5mm jack. no sound The note sound is heard when using a regular controller. To transfer audio to a headset with an Elite controller, you must use the original headset adapter. Even if the sound comes through the headset, video captured with this setting will not result in absolutely NO sound, game, or mic. The game doesn't really recognize the microphone!9 I seriously considered resetting LGP2, but then came up with a few workarounds while recording. to play or to avoid.  If I'm recording single-player gameplay or multiplayer gameplay and I don't need the voice of other players, I can record my voice using an external microphone (my laptop's microphone).  If I want to do a full recording with all the player voices, I can start a mixer broadcast where all the players in my group are chatting. Once the transfer is complete and the saved video is processed in Mixer, I can upload it to my laptop and continue from there. So I plan to keep it and burn with these workarounds and hopefully Elgato will develop an external recording device in the near future. My recommendation for this is tentative, given the obviously broken feature and workarounds required. If the chat function worked I would give it another star. Definitely not five for lack of documentation and troubleshooting help. Update: LGP2 Plus doesn't meet all HDR criteria (and others). When plugged in, my XBOX ONE X does not recognize HDR for gaming, nor any other HDR format for other functions (e.g. Blu-ray playback). It also doesn't recognize 4K at 50Hz. When my XBOX ONE X is connected directly to my monitor, all HDR and XBOX 4K options are available. I still get a slightly better picture when I select HDR on my monitor, but I'm wondering what it would be like if everything was skipped. Not enough to deduct another star, but worth mentioning.
