I was surprised to learn that the lightweight stand maintains its angle when a fairly heavy drawing pad is placed on it and pressure is applied while drawing. The angle can be changed by adjusting the 3rd leg and tightening the flywheel bolt. Deep and lo and behold it held. Unlike wood.
