Review on Merkur Progress Adjustable Safety Razor with Extended Handle by Misty Wood

Great razor! It took a few shaves to get used to the weight and long handle, and the angle at which you hold the razor is also slightly different. I also had to figure out what settings worked best for me. I think a lot of the negative comments come from people who either misadjusted the top plate when inserting the blade; or just not giving him enough time to figure out the razor and its settings. Like I said, it took me a few shaves (and the trimmings that come with them) to get to what worked for me, but I'm currently getting the best, cleanest shave ever. Mantic59 has posted some progression videos on YouTube that I can recommend. He recommends starting with a low setting and increasing it for subsequent passes; I have to do the exact opposite. I start with 21/2 or 3 for my cut pass, then choose 2 and then 11/2 for my final pass. Nick is free and bbs every time. The shaver is well built and the adjustments are precise and repeatable every time. I've been shaving DE for about four years, I shave every other day for work and own three other razors; This has become my favorite razor, I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
