I bought this pump for our underground pool step. When we have a lot of rain it's nice to be able to pump it out without pulling the hose out of the pool. It works but doesn't turn on and off automatically. Because of this, I unfortunately have to be at home to turn it on and off. The description says it turns itself off to keep the motor from burning out. Not sure how it works as there is no float so I didn't risk it. I wish I had bought one with a float to turn it on and off!
