I didn't give it 4 stars because I dropped it and it broke. I'll come back to that later. I did a night photo shoot of my car that I sold. Used an Olympus E-P1 with a 45mm f1.8 lens (cool) and held it on a tripod. I set the exposure for a few seconds while walking around the car and manually activating the flash in my hand. The photos turned out great! Sold the car within a week. Even those who didn't buy a car emailed me and just wanted pictures. Pointer, if you want to sell your car fast, take some good pictures. If you are unable to take pictures of your own, consult a professional or someone who can do you a favor. Anyway, back to flash. As I was walking around, I dropped it and the retractable diffuser flap, not the reflective card, broke on tiny hinges. Cannot be fixed. But the flash still worked. This was my first flash so I give it a decent rating even though it was cheap and broken because I learned how to use a flash on it. And if you're new to flash photography, I pretty much got started on how to take pictures; Min/max sync speed, flash zoom, external flash, external flash, slave mode, TTL, manual flash, bounce flash, etc. I could go on and I know there are a lot more than I even mention. not hear. Regardless, I learned the basics of Flash on this Flash and it actually works well. The flash itself doesn't appear to be "premium" although I don't really have a basis for comparison as it was my first flash. In any case, the flash shoe is made of plastic. The contact points are springy and push in on installation, and it looks like one of them didn't make full contact with the points on the camera's hot shoe mount. So if I pointed the camera down, the weight of the flash would partially knock off one of the pins and the flash would not fire. So I held the flash in my hand for the first few months to make sure it was in place until the end. I ended up disassembling the flash and confused the contacts. I know it's hard to imagine without pictures but I'm just describing what I found, the spring that the pin was pressed into was not fully sprung and barely touching it, thus creating an OPEN state with it. without contact. I simply compress the end of the spring a bit, push it onto the pin so it snaps securely in place, and reassemble the flash. Since then it's been working great. By the way, this problem existed before I dropped it. For the price, the flash works as described and according to my research is significantly cheaper than flashes from other well-known brands. I have two other outbreaks now, not Bauers.
