Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Optimized Lighting: Rigid Industries 40192 by Darryel Tokarczyk

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Short platform F150 Supercrew 2015.

The kit includes everything to connect additional reversing lights except T-piece to connect to the reversing light wire. A T-junction is not required but avoids cutting into the vehicle's factory wiring. The cable length from the relay to the rear of the car was more than sufficient. He could easily walk a few more meters. The length of the wire from the relay to the battery was a bit short. I have the battery on the passenger side in front of the engine compartment, relays and switches in front of the driver's seat. I had to use an alternate ground for the negative wire that gave me the few inches I needed. The instructions were enough. According to the instructions, the relay should be installed under the dashboard. Installing it in the engine bay would be a lot easier for me. I mounted it under the dashboard as described. Everything would be fine if I routed the wires to the headlights through the cabin. I wasn't interested in pulling paneling and carpeting, just looking for an exit in the back of the cab. I wanted to run cables outside of the cockpit. This means the relay connector has to go through the firewall (or cut and reseason the wires going back to the lights). My truck has a huge grommet on the firewall next to the driver so I could (not easily) get through the relay. If it were possible to put a relay in the engine bay it would be a lot easier and I would have more wires to the battery. The switch works well and as advertised with on, off and automatic (reverse).

Pros

Cons
  • Lots of accessories
