I like that it's not too difficult to get up running, but still allows you enough options so all parts of your computer are taken care of from hardware selection down through software packages (like open source). The gentoo wiki makes setup very easy with great step-by-step documents available at almost every level of difficulty. There isn't much "wow factor" in this distro, though if thats what you're looking for go ahead! This is more of a no brainer choice - its solid. If you want good security features, then don't choose this option unless there really IS nothing else out there better than this one package manager approach they have going here. Security updates as well as general stability & performance issues solved without having to pay someone thousands upon thousand dollars per hour via bug bounty programs etc.
