First things first. The shoes are wonderful. My son loves that they are comfortable. They run a bit large, so I recommend going down half a size. I read previous reviews saying this and ordered a size 6 (my son usually wears a 6.5). Even though they are made of faux leather, the upper of the shoe still looks good enough after just under 3 months. All this to say that these shoes are good, but they are NOT FOR EVERYDAY use. I bought these as school shoes for my son and after the first week you could already see a lot of wear on the heel. The sole and heel of the shoes are made of a spongy material, which wears out pretty quickly (you can fix anything if you rush to a shoe repair shop). I live in New York and my son goes from school to the train and home. The material that makes up this heel is not designed for this type of grip. The sole of one foot has also come loose from the boot (again, shoe repair helps). Unfortunately my son's size is hard to find in this style of shoes but my shoemaker does an excellent job so they will last a little longer until I find a better pair.
