Mine was pressed in cling film. It flipped over and reached its full size (37 x 73 x 1.5 inches) in just over a minute. There is a small tear on one side. It doesn't go through the entire thickness and doesn't affect anything. It didn't smell until I slept on it. Due to my body heat and proximity, I could smell something on the ceiling. But the smell was very faint, and now there is no smell at all. When you run your hand over it, it looks like old pool noodles. However, pool noodles are much stronger. If I tried it in a store I would buy something else because it doesn't have support. This isn't one of those toppers you can throw on the floor for an emergency guest. It's very soft and doesn't wrinkle with very little pressure. When you remove your weight, it takes time to get back to your original height. It doesn't turn you off at all. I'm not sure who will like it. I know I prefer a topper that pulls back a little. In comparison, latex toppers have a lot more bounce and support for the same thickness - the problem is that they stink. And the smell didn't go away. It's the opposite - no springs, no support, no smell. I wouldn't buy this eLuxury mattress topper if I tried it first, but it makes the mattress a little more comfortable and doesn't smell, so I'm keeping it.
