I think the problem is that the two places it connects to the bike weren't rubberized, they were hard plastic in the inner loop so it didn't come on got stuck on my handlebars. they don't bind and stay in place, both sides rotate independently, even with repeated tightening attempts. I just gave up. If they had some rubber on the inside of the hinges that connect to the handlebars I think it would work. I thought the bar was something more massive as well, it was a very light plastic cylinder.
