The leather is exactly the same as in 70's jeans - thick, uniform, one piece, no stitching, just a big, thick piece of leather that should last forever. Thick enough so I don't expect deformation of the rear loops. It's not as wide as the '70s belt (1 1/2 inches vs. 2 inches). Waxed thread decoration certainly appears to be very durable, but time will tell. Also, it wasn't made in China like everything else - it's from Argentina, very nice, apparently handmade. Pairs perfectly with chinos for a preppy or bohemian polo look.
