I am lucky and eternally grateful to my paternal grandparents for inheriting antique wooden furniture as well as several wooden lamps in their house where my husband and I live now. So, besides the furniture (dining sets, bedroom sets, decorative bedside tables, etc.), we also have to take care of the wooden moldings, railings, doors, etc. Although my grandparents always kept the house immaculately clean, they never treated anything as "sight only"; These magnificent treasures were bought to be used, not to be looked at (I think that was largely due to Depression-era thinking). Although they have been well cared for, over the course of nearly a century of use by her and the rest of the family, they have left a little dirt, dents, scratches, etc., and even longer for items that once belonged to my great-grandmother and grandfather. I was struggling to find something to properly clean and polish all of our beautiful wooden furniture. Many commercial wood cleaners, even those that are "environmentally friendly" and even those that boldly claim to be very gentle and good at preserving the finish or varnish of antiques, have ended up removing some of the finish from some of them . our furniture, as well as on our solid wood doors. The chemical fumes in most wood cleaners and polishes were a headache even with good ventilation! The best thing I could do was wipe everything down with a microfiber cloth and keep looking for the right cleaner. One day I found this remedy by accident and thought I might give it a try. I've tried everything else, so one more, right? I especially liked the ingredient list as I try to keep the amount of chemicals in my home arsenal to a minimum. When I received it and opened the jar, I immediately noticed the absence of any unpleasant odors or fumes. The texture also seemed great; not too hard, not too soft. OK, so far so good. let's check it out Our old wooden table was the first test object. It's a piece that other cleaners haven't removed the varnish from, so it was my safest choice. I like to use turn-down white athletic socks instead of rags (the textured finish is great for projects like this!) and pull them straight up over my arms to use. With my sock-covered hand, I pulled out some polish and started rubbing it into the wood. It was very easy and you didn't have to worry about the paint drying quickly before it could be polished. Nevertheless, no unpleasant odors or paint peeling off the furniture! As I rub the polish in, I begin to notice something. My table is thirsty! It happily soaked up the moisturizing natural beeswax and carnauba wax and I kept buffing! As I polished, the accumulated dirt and grime also came off. After buffing, I buffed it with a clean rag (another sock inside out!). The results were amazing! Many of the scratches were gone, the deeper scratches and nicks in the corners were much, much less noticeable and overall the table looked fantastic! tolerate other cleaners and polishes. I tested a small area on the back beforehand. and the paint does not crack! What really came out was a lot of accumulated dirt and the tree underneath was awesome! This item was also quite damp, as was the desk, soaking up the moisturizing properties that this polish offers when removing dirt from the surface. After I was done and the polishing was complete, it looked like a whole different piece of furniture. that was excellent! The same result was achieved with our oldest and most delicate piece (three tier decorative table) with no damage to the finish! We were literally stunned and of course thrilled! Since then, I've been happy to clean our wooden treasures around the house and only use a dry microfiber cloth for dusting. Since first using many products when they were rehydrated after using a polish, I have had to use significantly less product on subsequent uses. I cannot recommend Daddy Vanns Furniture Polish enough to anyone who owns wooden furniture and/or household items. The results are wonderful! The absence of harmful chemicals and petroleum-based ingredients, as well as the absence of annoying fumes gives me peace of mind that I am not exposing my family to unnecessary pollutants and that I am giving beautiful wood the best materials to keep it happy and beautiful! A nice bonus is that natural bees and carnauba wax keep skin hydrated while you work! Don't worry about unpleasant substances being absorbed through your skin! Orange oil gives my home a happy, uplifting, refreshing scent that is also all natural. Without a doubt, Daddy Vann Furniture Polish is worth every penny; it cleans, moisturizes, protects and shines - all in one! My only regret is that my grandparents are not here to see their beautiful furniture and wood fittings, brushed and polished, and they look how I imagine them to be when they were brand new. .SPECIAL NOTE. I am not an antiques expert and have no idea if the use of such products will affect the value of an item in the antiques market. I believe, like my grandparents, that my furniture is meant to be used, not just admired; There are no plans to sell them. If you are concerned about this, be sure to consult an expert before using ANY cleaning products on ANY antiques. :)
