difficult to install

I have two sets of smooth surface burners at home. Both have a metal bezel/frame around the glass that holds them in the counter hole. It was easy to assemble: plug in and secure against shifting. This model has bare glass edges with no support under the glass. This will require mounting brackets on the cut opposite edges. The material must accept screws (no stone!). Installation is difficult because too much weight is on the bare glass hitting the bracket and too little weight is on the glass supporting the counter. You also need to make sure the mounts are not adjusted too far forward or backward, or that the screws on the mount are not touching the device. The power cord comes out the front of the unit for some reason and is relatively short. This means that the power cord is subject to excessive movement from items in any drawer directly beneath the unit. It makes much more sense to run the wiring inside the block and out the back like the block that replaced this one. The frameless glass top has an attractive look, but makes the edges more prone to chipping or cracking if something slides inside. hob on the side. Using a metal frame would offer better protection and a more tapered edge with better mating contact. The edge of bare glass is inevitably thicker and, being inflexible, leaves more room at the edges for dirt to get underneath (caulk under plumbing or silicon caulk around the edges is recommended to minimize this problem.
