* Please ignore the vinyl decals I added, I wrote this review after I applied it and didn't think to take photos beforehand. I bought this case because I'm pretty rough with my electronics and have a 3 year old who is even rougher than me. I used to have a fake otter on my iPad and my little one jumped on it (using her body weight) and threw it off my bed onto the floor. The device survived, the case didn't. I figured it might be worth investing in the real deal and hopefully not having to buy new cases every few months. So far I haven't been disappointed. In terms of durability, this item is definitely a wise investment. My biggest complaint is that it adds a bit of bulk to the iPad, especially when you have the lid/stand part attached, but when using it without the lid. it actually feels relatively light and comfortable in the hand. The stand function works great in either position, and the Apple Pencil attaches directly to the lid, making it easy to find and store with your iPad. So far I've been impressed with the built-in screen protector. With my previous imitation style cases, I always cut out the screen protector and used a tempered glass film, since the built-in plastic version scratched easily and got in the way of my Apple Pencil. I was pleasantly surprised that the screen protector in the original Otterbox is fairly scratch resistant and sits flush with the iPad screen so it works seamlessly with my Apple Pencil. I had to remove a previously installed screen protector as the case did not fit properly on the iPad with my third party screen protector. So don't plan on buying this and take off the screen protector if you don't like it and use a different one as with such a tight fit it's not an option. Overall I am very happy with my decision. buy and I hope my child can not easily break this case. I decided to buy a used device in new condition and it arrived in the condition described with no visible signs of wear. It was intact and could not be said to have been used before. So if you're hesitant about buying an Otter or considering buying a used option, I can confirm the case is excellent and I've had no problems buying a used one from Amazon.
