The wireless system Phonex PX-441 burns. Thank goodness the fuse box sensed the heat and cut the power. It has worked well for the past year and a half (I've used it to dial TIVO). It was a heatwave in Chicago this summer and everyone was warned to keep their electricity consumption to a minimum. I had a window air conditioner and an outlet on the same circuit but plugged into different outlets. This plug was connected to the main socket. The air conditioning was on, and my electrician friends (who were doing the forensics) believe that the sudden need for power to that circuit caused the socket to overload and catch fire. The jack definitely burned and essentially melted into the exhaust panel leaving smoke 5 inches above the exhaust port. I'm trying a different brand of wireless phone jacks (once bitten, twice shy). I will also plug it into an extension cord as an extra precaution.
