My son is 3 years old and most shoes in this age range still come with support straps which only require a bit of effort when trying to Put on. It's annoying when he wants to put on shoes to keep up. his sister. Therefore, they are perfect for a quick slip when heading out into the yard or garage. I love the adjustable buckles which provide flexibility for foot size in this age range (my son wears "wide" shoes). I would say the overall sizing is pretty close to typical shoe sizes but slightly undersized. My son wears a size 8 Crocs sandals and I took a size 8-85. They fit well. I might go another size 8.5/9 to have more room to grow. Just for reference if you are used to Asian/European size charts, 8/8.5 is a size 27 here.
