They work as advertised but the design flaw is that the number can only be seen from across the room or directly in front of the receiver. The numbers on the LCD are embedded behind a blackened cover, and if it's plugged into the wall near where you're seated, you won't be able to see the numbers unless you lean forward to look directly at the device. or if you are far enough away from it that you can see the recessed numbers. To top it off, the numbers are actually pretty small, so a room-wide solution isn't a viable solution. It wouldn't have worked for me anyway as I needed it in my small clinic next to my desk. The only other solution would be to run an extension from the outlet to my desk and place the receiver on my desk. I didn't want anything where I had to find a "workaround" to just use it, so I returned the device.
