Hack to check for blown bulbs

Worked great. I would advise you to look at the tag on your current headlight before ordering the correct replacement bulb. At first I thought they wouldn't work when replacing the light on a pre-lit tree. Although they weren't "single ended", you may need to replace more than one to get it working again if more than one bulb burned out in a section. I came up with my own hack. I took out a sheet of white paper and a flashlight. I held the white paper to the back of the bulbs and then shone a flashlight on them. When the bulb burned out, it had a black spot that was easier to see with white paper behind it. I replaced the blown bulbs in this section, and once you've changed enough, the entire section will light up (but the bulb you just replaced may not light if the others are blown). I've seen some people say the replacement doesn't work. Maybe that's why - either the other bulbs blew out and had to be replaced before they lit up, or the wrong replacement was made - didn't look at the label on the garland). I hope this helps if you've had multiple burnouts like I did.

Pros
  • Pinched base fits most bulb kits
Cons
  • Not sure
