Let me start by saying that I have collected hundreds of ready made furniture pieces over the years. I'm a bit fanatical about how things should fit together (being an auto tech, I'm just wired that way, lol). My first impression upon unpacking this item was that the packaging was well done to avoid damage to the parts during shipping. And yes, it's heavy, around 100 pounds, which is fine because good furniture has to be heavy. Everything came out of the box in good condition. Next, we disassemble the assembly of accessories. Hmmm, wooden dowels and glue. Not a deal killer, but my first hint that I can't be happy. Various screws, camlocks (looks cheap but we'll see), etc. Everything is nicely labeled and explained. Start assembling, okay, the instructions are clear, no problem here. We continue. Halfway down I hit part of the lock knot hard, and I'm not happy here. I quickly realize that my first assumption about the quality of the camlocks has come true. 3 issues are supported, 1. - Camlocks don't have the usual positive sense of interaction that most others have. This means you cannot feel the lock turning on and off. It feels like it's never going to happen now that the castle has finally taken its place. Second, I'm starting to notice that when the camlock holes were drilled, the factory never cleaned them properly. So now I'm starting to rough out the holes with a screwdriver in the hope that this will change how the camlock engages. Unfortunately, this doesn't cause problem #3, which is that the holes aren't drilled deep enough and the mounting pins of adjacent boards aren't set to the correct depth. The bottom line is you have to stop tightening the cam locks or you'll just crack the boards. And yes, I cracked the front panel at the very top. When I heard the sound of splitting wood, a small porthole appeared. Because of the color, texture and location, I understand that this imperfection will likely never go unnoticed. I'm angry, but I won't stop there. What should I do? Packed and sent back. Apparently, manufacturers are already thinking about this scenario. So my final impression was that this was a beginner's first attempt at designing a ready-made piece of furniture. If so, they get a C-minus for assembly and device assembly. I've assembled similar parts with 2/3 less equipment and a lot less build time than this part (@ 3 hours for this part). On the other side of the build and why I ended up with 3 stars was that after everything was assembled this thing is very pretty, sturdy and good, it's almost unique in its looks.
