I bought this camera in November 2001 and am very happy with its performance and features. For those complaining about the graininess of the picture: read the instructions that came with the camcorder! With this camera you have the option of various exposure settings. I found that the AE (Auto Exposure) setting made the image look grainy, especially when shooting indoors. This can be corrected by using the Sun and Moon exposure or one of the others. Take the time to try each setting in different lights and environments, and check them out on your TV to see which you like best. Some of the advantages of this camera * light weight * very good color LCD screen * excellent image stabilization * very good color reproduction (with correct exposure) * excellent compatibility with computer operating systems and programs * excellent stereo sound * excellent remote control Some disadvantages to consider * inconvenient spare tape, tape is loaded from the bottom * Camera hum on the tape when recording a still scene * Digital zoom out of focus (continue analog zoom) * Battery lasts briefly (approx. 1/2 hours) when using the LCD screen This camera does not have a memory card for use Saving photos, but I don't see that as a downside. Expensive models are starting to come out with decent resolution photography built into the camcorder, and until the price drops get a separate digital camera. Overall a very good camera!
