The 230 model is the most affordable all-digital 8 camera this year. (130 will not play analog 8mm tapes). The camera is a joy to use. Picture quality is a staggering increase from 8mm and it's a delight to be able to view full frames one at a time. I compared to mini DV and found no difference in quality (Digital 8 - 500 lines vs 525 for DV). Tapes are easy to find and cheaper than mini DV.
