I recently bought some portable radios for a job I've been doing for a while. Due to the nature of this job I need a small pocket radio. The first one I bought was the Jameson counterpart. But it arrived damaged and looked like it had been used before. Before returning I put in 2 AA batteries just for testing. I live about 35 minutes north of Los Angeles and this radio seems to be doing pretty well on most major radio stations. The sound was ok for the pocket size of this device. It seems deaf but not too tinny, if that makes sense. The second one I bought as a replacement was a Sony icf-p36. When it arrived my first impression was the simple design. This is definitely a sleek, simple radio. Being a Sony, I expected more than this thing. The reception was ok but the sound was worse. Although it produced a clear, crisp sound with a strong radio signal, the sound was even more hollow and tinny than the previous radio. My sound is mostly vocal. In other words, it would be better to listen to talk radio than music on this radio. In my opinion, the sound did not live up to expectations and made you want more. Now Tivdio. I have to say that I have read all the reviews on this product and most of them are correct. The sound is impressive for the size and price. For real! This radio completely blows away the 2 previous radios! The sound is much fuller. The music is not only vocal. The sound of this little device has depth. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing supernatural about it, but compared to other radios, this thing is impressive. It comes with a small bar that gets stuck in the back so you can fold it back. That sounds seriously good in my kitchen. Can't wait to hear that at work. It has some cool features that I think make the game interesting. To understand it you have to do a little tinkering and read the instructions. The reception is also better! SD card reader, good reception, rechargeable. You can also buy cheap replacement batteries online for this device! It also has a passive radiator on the back that gives it great depth of sound. For the price, this item is worth the money. Now time will tell how durable it is. Very impressed with this little unit!
