I bought it marshmallow flavored. I don't really smell "flakes" but it's definitely a real vanilla marshmallow flavor with no weird aftertaste. I've used it in oatmeal, smoothies, and even protein pancakes, and it's worked really well on all three. Mixes well, tastes great, doesn't cause an upset stomach or an odd aftertaste, and I love the proportions so I plan to try a different flavor next month! and blaming the product and I don't find such a rating helpful I will clarify - it's only 1 pound (14 servings) - it's not a huge tub. I'm not sure why this is so difficult, but I think not everyone has learned to pay attention and compare product sizes and portion information.
