The Canon M50 Mk ii's HDMI port is rated at 2.44m. That's not enough even for home studio purposes. This unit has allowed me to extend my HDMI cable an additional 8 feet without any noticeable loss in picture quality. The cable connects to a Taktoppy Video HDMI Capture Card connected to a Satechi USB-C Multiport Pro Adapter. The device worked perfectly without connecting an external power source to the micro USB port on the side of the device. This works under two conditions: 1. An ideal transmitter and ultimate receiver, both a 5VDC source and ground, as required by the HDMI specification.2. The length of the cable on each side of the extender does not exceed the capacity of the device on the other side of the extender. I don't know if I can use an extension cord longer than the 8ft cord I tested with it. I will buy a longer cable and try again. Of course, cables must be dimensioned for the desired signal quality.
