These are normal shoes. I love that they are soft and fully flexible, including the soles. For some reason it's almost impossible to find a really soft sole for babies, except maybe from China and then you have to wait a month and a half for them to arrive. I also like that they are laced up so I can tie them tightly and the baby can't take them off. That's all I like about them. They are not very durable and fall apart quickly. The white part is heavily rubbed and painted in all sorts of impossible colors. One of the pairs I've received now has blue scuffs on the white part despite the shoes only being used on hardwood floors and a playmat. When my child was just chained to a rubber playmat, the shoes felt good. But now we've run it all over the room and the wooden floor is really slippery! She is learning to walk now and kept slipping and falling in these shoes so I took her off and left her in zip socks. It's much better this way, but she keeps taking her socks off and it's still too cold to go barefoot. I am so disappointed!
