2560x1440, HDMI on laptop, DisplayPort on monitor
When used with a Dell U2713HM monitor and an Inspiron 7460 laptop, the 2560x1440 resolution at 60Hz is fine if the HDMI output of the Laptops are connected to the display port of the monitor using this cable. This particular monitor limits HDMI to 1920 x 1080p and I use the DVI input to connect it to my desktop so that worked great for me.
