I use in conjunction with 70-200mm f/2.8L USM on 7D. For a long time I chose between 24-105, 15-85 and 17-40, at first I settled on 15-85, he attracted me with his versatility. I used 15-85 for about 2 months, then I realized that you have to pay for versatility with a picture, and by no means do I say that 15-85 is a bad lens, no, I was just not satisfied with the clarity at 15mm focal length and with an open aperture. 24-105 universal, relatively inexpensive and reliable "L" - ka, if you doubt the choice of a lens in the range of 25 thousand, then "she" (so to speak) is ideal.
Pros
- The letter "L" on the lens and the "red ring" speak for themselves, but still: 1) The quality of the lenses. Quite sharp even at f/4, and at f/8 - f/16 is generally excellent. 2) Universal range of focal lengths. Good on Fullframe, quite wide on the near end on Crop, although there is no "barrel" effect. 3) Stabilizer. Works great when shooting video and pulls even 1/5. 4) Constant f / 4 aperture over the entire focal range. 5) Ultrasonic motor. It quickly focuses even on not very expensive models, for example 600D, there are no complaints when working on 7D. A metal, although not completely, body, a rubber gasket on the mount, a large focus ring and generally large dimensions.
Cons
- Not very wide on Crop.
