Review on Atoplee M14 Metric Right Thread by Jose Mcdaniel

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It was an unusual die

I have several sets of SAE and metric taps and dies but I didn't have a 14M x 1.25 die for the project. EVERY EVERY stamp I have starts out rough and the other side of the stamp ends up being the highest. However, this one starts on both sides and ends with the last strands in the middle. What happens is there's half the distance to make that coarse-to-fine transition. This shortened distance is too short and abrupt to get the cube off to a good start. This also means that the last three or four turns of the die that would normally reach the end of your metal stock won't get a full thread because that end has the starting thread, not the thinnest thread. Unfortunately I think I'll be sending this back and I think it's better to find it if you cut or clean the thread from one side of the die to the other.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some mistakes
