It was hard to decide which laptop stand to buy so I bought both Nexstand and Roost to compare. While both are great laptop stands, the Nextstand is more affordable; however, I give Roost a slight advantage. In the photos I've posted for reference, the nextstand is at the bottom (with and without the mounting clip) and the roost is at the top. Here are my comparisons that give Roost a slight edge: 1) The nextstand is slightly taller and taller than Rust. There is a noticeable difference in size between them (e.g. the Nextstand sticks out horizontally by about a quarter of an inch longer). I have limited space at my temporary workspace due to working from home during COVID. Nextstand made it a bit harder to plan/configure my hardware based on the space available, while Roost occupies a slightly smaller footprint, which is perfect for my situation. However, this shouldn't be a problem if you have enough space on your workstation. 2) Although it's pretty stable; However, the nextstand seemed to slide more on my desk. Of course it depends on the material of the table, but with two kids around my table I was concerned that they might hit the table and knock my laptop over. I felt like I had to put contact paper on the Nextstand's legs to keep them from slipping. On the other hand, the Roost has a rubberized material on the underside of the front wheels. The shift in movement between the two laptop stands is clearly noticeable. 3) Although the laptop was securely fastened with fasteners; However, I found it tedious to detach and reattach snap-on adapters for my personal and work laptops. For some reason none of the settings (i.e. zip or not) worked for both laptops as my personal laptop is much thinner than my work laptop. Also, you run the risk of losing investments if you're not careful (which I've heard can be hard to replace). I had no problem fitting both laptops to the roost mounts. Roost with rubberized buckles was a nice touch too. I'm sharing my observations just in case you're unsure which laptop stand to buy. Though I give Rust a slight edge; I still enjoyed using the laptop stand despite the issues described above. It all depends on your preferences and your work/home situation. The wife plans to use Nexstand for her work laptop, so neither of us left empty-handed.
