Finally something a mane can tame!

Wow. I had very low expectations for this product to get started. I actually only bought this because I was looking for beard care products, had a gift certificate, it was on sale and the reviews sounded good. I thought, 'It's free, so why not? If it inevitably fails, I will simply return it.” Happy to say this hairbrush is excellent! I have thick, coarse, and curly hair for a beard; what is common among blacks. So if I see a product that claims to be a hair straightener but isn't based on chemicals, I assume it won't work for me. To my surprise, it actually worked very well. It doesn't smooth it out completely like it would for whites, but it comes pretty damn close if you use it at the highest level. It takes about 3-5 minutes to heat up to the max and a few puffs make my beard wavy and more manageable. The first time I used it I realized how long my beard really was. Instead of being thick, I should have seen some length in it. It made cutting and styling easier. For best results use after shower, after conditioner or when in a hurry with some beard oil. BE CAREFUL. At the highest setting, if you miss your hair, the first hit will burn your face. Not strong enough to leave a mark, but uncomfortable nonetheless. It really only takes a few brushes to see results. Comb it fully, shape it with your hands and smooth it down with a regular comb. The double-ended comb that comes with the straightener works. It's durable and compact, but doesn't suit me. I use a longer-toothed comb or spatula to comb out my chin and bottom. Maybe this works better for others. However, it doesn't matter. The Arkam Ionic Beard Straightener is a great product and has become an important part of my daily hair care routine.
