I had no idea what I was missing until I bought this Sigma Flash. I am using a Sony SLT a57 camera with a built in flash. Every year I am the unofficial photographer for my wife's charity event. The images are normal but a bit dark. The built-in flash was weak and partially cropped by my large lens at the bottom. So I always tried to shoot without flash because I thought I could adjust the ISO, speed and aperture to make the photos bright and clear. But that didn't happen. I was afraid of the idea of buying a flash. How do camera settings interact with the flash to get good photos? I had no idea what to expect and didn't want to study this phenomenon for hours. I recently read a short article that explained what TTL is. Thanks to Lens technology, the optional flash actually works like a built-in flash, using the camera's metering system. It sounded easy, although most external flashes have buttons and settings to worry about. Looking closely at this flash, I noticed that there is a TTL setting. I could set the flash to TTL and set the camera to Auto or PASM setting and let the flash do its thing. At least that's what I thought. That's how it works, of course! It's amazingly simple. If you don't want to bother with manual settings and other complicated approaches, you can literally let the flash and camera do all the work. The opposite is also true and as I get more comfortable with my gear I'll try changing the settings and see how that affects my shots. My first flash photo was taken in a rather dark room. I took a picture of my daughter and the picture looked like it was taken in daylight. Wonderful! If you want to change up your indoor photography without years of training, get this flash. He does all the work.
